Art Festival, Timisoara, Romania, October 22, 2016

Before the summer of 2016  I decided to participate in the Jewelry competition, in Timisoara, Romania. The competition is organized by Marisha Zaporojan (the event planner) and Ana Zaporojan, (bead jewelry artist and coordinator), two enthusiasts of handmade jewelry. The International event is in its fourth year. It gathers both well known jewelry designers as well as younger artists from all over the world.

I gathered my 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 BOTB necklaces and I sent them via USPS to Romania.

Battle of the BeadSmith is a annual International Competition "a celebration of Bead Artistry around the World" which became a Facebook sensation, due both to the leader, Steven Weiss who organized and coordinated BOTB and to the very talented bead artists who had the opportunity and the courage to compete. I participated every year in this competition starting with 2012.

" Twelve Days of Christmas"

The " Twelve Days of Christmas" is a symbiosis of beadwork and steampunk -the focal is a gold metal Swiss watch movement.
I am obsessed with number 12, and the twelve leaves of my pendant could be also a symbol for the 12 Months of an year or the 12 Hours around the clock.

the "Magical time", 12 Round Pearl Brooches, ranged in a circle, representing the 12 Hours. My entry, MAGICAL TIME, was a FINALIST at the 2001 BEAD & BUTTON SHOW, Gleaming Treasures (one of the pictures shows the 12 Brooches).

A collection of Chokers

AVAILABLE IN MY ETSY SHOP - https://www.etsy.com/shop/enchantedbeads?
Price range $20.00 - $30.00

My BOTB 2015 Necklace, 'Untamed Dreams'

I created this free form necklace, Untamed Dreams, (asymmetrical symmetry) for the 2015 Battle of the Beadsmith competition, the Facebook BOTB13.

It is a free form embroidery without leather support, using peyote, picot, netting.
I used a large variety of materials: indigo blue Drusy (Druzy) cabochons; different sizes and colors of Swarovski Crystals Rivoli; genuine pearls (8- 10 mm peacock); peridot chips; 3 mm galvanized gold beads; size 15 Miyuki seed beads in different shades of green, garnet, iridescent green, lime green; elytra green beetle wings; gold plated crystal clasp. For the back of the stones I used little rounds of golden lambskin (see last picture).

Overall size of piece: 6 inch x 5 inch.(approx.15 cm x 12 cm) Necklace: 18 inch (46 cm) in length

*I became fascinated by form and color when I was very young, I was lucky enough to experience art at an early age. My own creative desire emerged soon after, and I have tried several forms of arts and crafts. Then I discovered beads and the endless possibilities to use them as one would use colorful paint. I experimented with different materials, conventional or not, but my preferences always seem to return to semiprecious stones, pearls and of course, seed beads. I hope my designs will bring beauty and joy to everyday life!
